Crews continue to battle Lee County wildfire
A wildfire in Lee County has burned at least one barn. The Virginia Department of Forestry reports a more than 500 acre wildfire is burning off Hickory Hill Road near the Blackwater community. Crews were actively working to contain the fire as of Wednesday evening. The Blackwater Volunteer Fire Department and Forestry Department crews were battling the fire. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced that a burning law was in effect through April 30. Burning is prohibited after 4 p.m. in the county if the fire is within 300 feet of woodland, brushland or a field containing dry grass or flammable material.
