Johnson City looks to sell former golf course
Costs of upkeep have been sited as the reason Johnson City is looking to sell a portion of the property that formerly housed the Buffalo Valley Golf Course. The 124-acre property on Golf Course Road has been closed since the end of 2017. Johnson City crews have still maintained the site since then. City leaders say that because of the topography of the property, it would be easier to sell the property in pieces, than as a whole. The city is also looking to complete streambank mitigation work at the location and restore the waterways that were previously altered when the site was operating. The city says it will not be selling the 33.5 acre portion of the course where the streambank mitigation work is planned.
