Kingsport Police investigating possible drowning Tuesday

The Kingsport Police Department is investigating a possible drowning that occurred on the South Fork of the Holston River on Tuesday evening. Kingsport police responded to the incident at around 6:45 p.m. at Riverbend Park. Officials say Officers worked with Kingsport Fire and Kingsport Lifesaving crews to locate and recover a body from the river near the South John B. Dennis Highway bridge. Police said the body will be sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in Johnson City for autopsy. No Foul play is suspected and Kingsport Police say the investigation is active and additional details will be released when available.
