Suspect hides drugs in police car after arrest
The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office arrested a Johnson City man Monday after deputies found various illegal substances during a traffic stop. Police later discovered the suspect allegedly attempted to hide a container of what is believed to be fentanyl while being transported to jail. 41 year old Stephen Burleson was taken into custody following the traffic stop on Plymouth Road. Burleson gave police verbal consent to search the vehicle and they discovered a large quantity of various illegal drugs. Deputies placed Burleson under arrest, and once they got him to the Washington County Detention Center, police found a plastic container believed to contain fentanyl stuffed between the K9 kennel cage and seat in the back of the transport vehicle. Burleson’s bond has been set at $55,000.
