Five arrested for attempted murder in Carter County

Five individuals were arrested over the weekend on multiple charges, including attempted murder, by deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the investigation into a severe beating that occurred in August 2023. Earlier this month the Carter County Grand Jury returned indictments charging five individuals in connection with the case. Arrested were 33 year old Jerry A. Carden Jr., 32 year old Meesha Brieanne Williams, 24 year old Kelvin Lynn Bradley Jr., 19 year old Daniel A. Shearl, all from Elizabethton and 21 year old Jeffery Scott Brooks Jr. of Johnson City. The charges stem from an investigation into a severe beating that happened on August 19, 2023, when deputies responded to the Stoney Creek community on a report of an assault.
