5 million dollar lawsuit filed for E. Coli outbreak at Appalachian Fairgrounds
An E. coli outbreak last September at the Appalachian Fairgrounds has led to a $5 million lawsuit being filed. The lawsuit alleges negligence in the planning and execution of Farm Days by the Appalachian Fairgrounds, Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation and Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. The lawsuit claims Farm Days was poorly managed, lacked hand washing opportunities, and properly tested animals. The suit claims the parties “knew or should’ve known” the risk of spreading bacteria like E. coli.
