TBI investigating after inappropriate photo from former KPD officer sent to minor
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a photo allegedly taken by a former Kingsport police sergeant that was at some point reportedly sent to a minor. Daniel Horne resigned from his position as a sergeant within the Kingsport Police Department on May 17. Horne had been placed on administrative leave after an investigation reportedly found that he had taken an inappropriate photo at work while in uniform. Horne had sent the photo to someone via social media, and the photo was then shared to others without his consent. Horne also serves as a Sullivan County commissioner. Second Judicial District Attorney General Barry Staubus requested agents to investigate “the alleged transmission of an inappropriate photograph from a Kingsport police officer to a minor.” The TBI did not specify how or when the alleged photo was sent to the minor. The TBI also said the ongoing investigation also involves alleged extortion of the former officer.
