Injured person rescued from Bluff City cave

The Kingsport Lifesaving Crew and other agencies responded to Worley’s cave in Bluff City last Thursday to rescued an injured person. A team of 12 Lifesaving Crew personnel with specialized equipment responded to the injured caver around 4 p.m. Multiple rescue teams were required to transport a stretcher, ropes, and hauling systems due to the conditions and the distance. It took those crews roughly five hours before the rescue was complete just before 10 p.m. No word on the caver’s condition was released.
