Spike stripes deployed in Carter County to end Pursuit, 2 arrested
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports a man with active warrants was arrested Tuesday after leading Carter County deputies on a pursuit, stealing a pickup truck during the chase. 32 year old Robert Ray refused to stop a stolen Ford Taurus before crashing at Betty’s Burger Hut on Highway 91. Ray then stole a Dodge Ram pickup and continued toward Cross Mountain Road. During pursuit of the second vehicle officers deployed spike strips and fired multiple shots in an attempt to disable the vehicle. Carter County deputies then executed a pit maneuver, disabling the truck. Deputies took Ray into custody after a foot chase. A female passenger, Debbie Garland, was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
