TDOT and VDOT to suspend work zones for July 4 holiday
Road construction won’t slow motorists across Tennessee or Virginia over the July 4 holiday. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes beginning at noon on Wednesday, July 3 through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8. VDOT will be suspending many highway work zones and lifting most lane closures on interstates and other major roads from noon on Wednesday, July 3, until noon on Friday, July 5. Officials say while lane closures will be lifted in most locations, motorists may encounter semi-permanent work zones that will remain in place.
