TBI agents investigating officer-involved JC shooting
TBI agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that resulted in injuries Wednesday night in Johnson City. The TBI says it happened near the intersection of Lone Oak Road and Cherokee Road. Shortly after 8:30 p.m. officers with the Johnson City Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers saw a Jeep being driven by a man who was known to have active arrest warrants. Authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the Jeep drove away “erratically” and began a pursuit. troopers attempted to force the Jeep to stop at the intersection of Cherokee Road and Lone Oak Road. For reasons that are still under investigation, the officer fired shots and struck the driver. A passenger in the Jeep was also injured. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. The results of the investigation will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office
