Driver receives life-threatning injuries in John B. Dennis Highway crash

A 25-year-old Kingsport man sustained life-threatening injuries when his hatchback caught fire after hitting a tree below South John B. Dennis Highway early Friday.

The preliminary report said the driver identified as Noah Pence struck the railing then collided with an SUV when he over corrected, sending his car over the hill and into a tree, igniting the vehicle . The SUV driver was not injured.

The city police report noted charges are pending.
