Carter County Board of Education discuss future of former school
The Carter County Board of Education met for a special-called meeting Tuesday to decide what to do with the former Little Milligan Elementary School. The board voted to close the school earlier this year, with operating costs given as the reason for the closure. Little Milligan Care and Share Program Inc., a local food bank has proposed using the building as a community center. During the public board meeting, it was noted that a price has not yet been set for the former school building and property. The board did unanimously vote to have a negotiated sale of the building but did not name any potential buyers.
