Committee investigating sexual misconduct reports at JHQ VA Medical Center
A Congressional committee is investigating reports of sexual misconduct at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following the reassignment of the center’s director and associate director. Allegations surfaced in letters sent by House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough, which were published September 5.
In the first letter, dated July 25, Bost writes that allegations of “an inappropriate relationship and sexual harassment between a supervisor and subordinate employee” at the Center were initially dismissed by then-Director Dean Borsos and then Associate Director Dr. Colleen Noe. Borsos resigned on August 21 after being reassigned. Former associate director Dr. Colleen Noe was also reassigned .
A second letter, dated August 9, citied new whistleblower information and added allegations of sexual assault. Both Bost’s first and second letters request extensive documentation of both Mountain Home leadership and the VA Administrative Investigation Boards’ handlings of the allegations. A VA spokesperson says that it had provided the committee with updated information on August 12 and answered Bost’s nine questions from the first letter on August 23.
