Greene County man, Asheville duo charged in Sunday shooting

Three individuals are now jailed and charged with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Charles Dabney of Greeneville.

A Johnson City police report said both Tyron Bland, 34, of Greene County and Jayden Smith, 19, of Asheville were charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment as a result of Sunday’s incident near Majestic Park.

Smith and an accomplice, Katy Scruggs, 22, were arrested Wednesday. Scruggs is charged with being an accessory and police plan to extradite her from Asheville.

The statement from police said more charges are expected.
