Cedar Creek VFD to cease operations
After more than 50 years of service, Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department has decided to close its doors. General staffing and finding volunteers were cited as the reason for the closure. St. James VFD and South Greene VFD are now splitting the calls Cedar Creek would normally pick up. Residents in Cedar Creeks response area are still within a five-mile radius of a fire department and don’t need to be concerned about crews responding to an emergency. Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Chief CJ Vickery does not believe that Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department will reopen.
