Kingsport Aquatic Center improvements taking longer than anticipated

The City of Kingsport announced Thursday, improvements at the Kingsport Aquatic Center will take a little longer than expected. A news release from the city said an unforeseen shipping delay, pushing back the reopening date to September 30. The delay is attributed to new starting blocks that still have not arrived. The aquatic center closed to the public on September 1 for what was expected to be three weeks. During the closure, crews have conducted maintenance and made many improvements including in the locker rooms, bathrooms, lazy river and pools.
