Emergency shelter now open in Johnson County
Johnson County Emergency Management Director Jason Blevins says that a temporary shelter has opened up in Mountain City for those affected by severe weather. Several houses throughout the county have been evacuated due to rising water and flood conditions. Blevins reports that multiple roads are blocked and trees are down throughout the county. The temporary shelter is located at 203 Vandilla Street in Mountain City and is open with the Red Cross is on-site. The worst of the flooding is expected to be Friday morning as rain bands from Hurricane Helene move through the region.
