VA DOH issues guidance after storm
The Virginia Department of Health’s LENOWISCO, Cumberland Plateau and Mount Rogers health districts are asking those affected by recent severe weather to use extreme caution to prevent injuries and food borne illness. The press release said any food that has been at room temperature for two hours or more and has an unusual odor, color or texture should be discarded. Some other guidance from the agency says to throw away any refrigerated food you suspect has spoiled, Stay out of impacted areas, do not sight see, don’t operate charcoal grills, propane camping stoves or generators indoors, do not walk or drive through standing water and stay clear of downed power lines.
They also advise to check local announcements for boil water advisories especially in flooded areas.
