VDEM announces volunteer, donation and resource center open in Damascus

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management says a volunteer, donation and resource center has opened in the Town of Damascus with the assistance of the United Way of Southwest Virginia. The department said the center is located at 744 North Beaver Dam Avenue across from Food City and will operate Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center will serve as a hub to connect residents in need of assistance with a case manager, coordinate volunteers and accept physical donations. As of Monday, the department says general cleaning supplies and pet food are needed.
