TEMA: death toll in East TN at 9 from Hurricane Helene

The death toll from Hurricane Helene has now risen to nine people in East Tennessee. At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, TEMA announced that the death toll has risen to eight people. Of the eight, three are in Unicoi County, two in Cocke County, one in Washington County, one in Johnson County, and one in Knox County. Then, moments later, the TWRA reported an additional death in Greene County. TEMA also said that the TBI is currently investigating 46 active leads on missing people, which is down from 102 reported Monday.
