Schools to return as Helene recovery continues

Carter County Schools and Unicoi County Schools, both announcing classes will resume Monday, October 28. The exception is Hampton High School. Teachers at Hampton High School will have a work day on October 28, and Hampton students will go back on Tuesday, October 29. Hampton High School has been temporarily relocated to the school system’s central office building on Keensburg Road in Elizabethton. In Carter County, buses will run on limited routes. The routes offered will expand as they become available after cleanup. Johnson County Schools are also out through October 25, but a return date has not been announced.
