TSSAA board votes to reclassify Hampton High as Class 1A
The TSSAA Board of Control has approved a request from Hampton High School to be classified as a Class 1A in baseball, softball and basketball.
The Carter County school is currently rated as Class 2A and the report said the athletic governing body would consider Hampton’s request to move down to 1A in football after up-to-date enrollment numbers are taken once school resumes.
The board denied a request from leaders at Morristown East for a classification change but the matter is scheduled for another vote next month when Hamblen County and school officials obtain solid student numbers from the Department of Education.
