Record high early voting reported in some locales
Early voting is underway in Tennessee with several counties reporting record-high numbers so far and Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett said that it’s good to see Tennesseans choose to cast a ballot and says it’s exciting that voters are taking advantage of TN’s early voting period. The high volume of early voting has caused longer wait times for voters in some counties with wait times upward of 30 minutes and sometimes even longer. Hargett encourages voting mid-morning or in the afternoon to avoid lines if possible and he points out he’d rather see lines than nobody at all. Some polling stations in the region had to be relocated due to flooding from hurricane Helene.
