United Way of East TN Highlands allocates funds for return to school
The United Way of East Tennessee Highlands has allocated $220,000 to help children return to school following Hurricane Helene. The organization announced Thursday that funds have been allocated to several organizations that work directly with children in counties affected by the flooding. The organization also announced that its Emergency Relief Fund had surpassed $1 million. The United Way says Money donated to the fund stays in Northeast Tennessee and is not used for administrative fees. The million dollar milestone was achieved in part from a $50,000 donation from the Ford Foundation, a gift from the Outlaw State of Kind Fund by Chris and Morgane Stapleton, and a $75,000 donation from ExxonMobil.
