Deputies make arrest in police impersonator case in Tazewell County

An alleged police impersonator roaming Route 19 in Tazewell County for women drivers earlier this week has been identified by police and arrested.
Teddy McClanahan, 55, of Richlands, was taken into custody with assistance of Cedar Bluff and Richlands officers in the investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office and SVCC had issued alerts to residents and students to be on the lookout for the alleged gray Ford F-150 pickup that McClanahan was reportedly driving. Sheriff Brian Hieatt said multiple sightings and tips about McClanahan were made by residents and others to continue the investigation. Hieatt also said he believes the impersonation incident was isolated.
