Operation Dry Water in Virginia Results in Arrests, Boating Citations, and Rescues
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries says Operation Dry Water, a statewide campaign to keep Virginia lakes safe, was a success.
Data from the department shows over the Independence Day weekend, conservation police officers across the commonwealth arrested five individuals for boating under the influence, as well as handing down 330 boating safety law warnings and 308 plus boating safety citations. Officers on the waterways also helped stranded boaters, including rescuing a canoeist who turned over in hazardous weather.
