Soon-to-appear Confederate Railroad yanked from Illinois show due to use of Confederate flag
Legendary country group Confederate Railroad is scheduled to perform in Southwest Virginia later this summer. That won’t be the case for the band at the Illinois State Fair. The Illinois Department of Agriculture has pulled the plug on their August 27 concert due to complaints and concerns over the band’s name and its use of the confederate flag.
Lead singer Danny Shirley issued a statement, saying the group was disappointed and had played the venue in the past with no problems. Confederate Railroad is slated to appear at the Washington County Fair in Abingdon on Sept. 13.
