Lead In Water At Kingsport Schools Being Addressed By Officials
Four Elementary Schools and Dobyns Bennett High School have tested above acceptable levels of lead in each school systems water source. Testing was conducted by a third party in July and paid for by the Kingpsort School System. Last week, those results showed all five schools had at least one source testing above the recommended Federal and State standards. The results also showed 13 sources with lead in the system. Assistant Superintendent Andy True says the school system took a proactive approach.
(:10)…We just wanted to take a proactive step for all the ones that tested at 15 ppb and higher and get those out of service, those were pulled before kids came back this week
Besides Dobyns Bennett, Jefferson, Johnson , Kennedy, and Roosevelt elementary schools also tested positive for lead in their water sources and all of those sources are now out of service until the water problem is fixed.
