Gate City Man Arrested During Traffic Checkpoint, Authorities Seize Large Amount of Drugs, Money

Scott County, Virginia deputies arrest a Gate City man Sunday after finding drugs, money, and paraphernalia during a traffic checkpoint.

Tyler Brown is facing five charges that include possession with intent to distribute or manufacture schedule 1 and 2 drugs. During the checkpoint, a deputy smelled marijuana odor coming from Brown’s car. Brown admitted to having marijuana in the car, as well as a pistol on him. Backpacks in the car were searched and found two bags of methamphetamine (estimated 1 gram each), over $2,000 in cash, acid, three bags of marijuana, and other items.

Brown was arraigned Monday in Scott County General District Court, and will be back in court on October 10th.
