THP: Fatal Crash on Highway 19E Leaves NC Woman Dead and One Injured

A Tuesday night crash involving an SUV and tractor truck on Highway 19E near Roan Mountain has claimed one life.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol investigation says a 1997 Kia Sportage, driven by Jessica Easterday, 28, of Elk Park, North Carolina, was traveling north on 19E when she crossed over the double yellow line and hit the tractor truck traveling south head on. Easterday died in the crash, and Clifford Davis, 55, the driver of the truck, was also injured in the crash.

No charges have been filed and the investigation continues. The report says both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
