UPDATE: 2015 hazing lawsuit at David Crockett fails in mediation, trial set for December
A federal civil rights suit involving a former David Crockett High School student who was suspended following a graphic hazing incident at a 2015 Christian-based football camp at Tennessee Tech has failed to reach a settlement following court-ordered mediation.
Court documents show the certified mediator from Knoxville reported that no further talks are scheduled. The Crockett student was suspended for a year. He is accusing the Washington County, Tennessee Board of Education of lack of due process in determining his punishment and in his appeal of the suspension.
The student is seeking $950,000 in punitive damages. The suit is scheduled for a three-day trial in federal court in December in Knoxville.
