Local Transportation Departments Checking For School Bus Recalls

As local school transportation departments recognize and celebrate national school bus safety week, many are scampering to check and see if their departments have any of the buses being recalled for seat safety defects. In Kingpsort, all 45 of their buses are equipped with seat belts, but Tommy Starnes with the Transportation department says they are checking to see if any of those 45 buses might be listed in the recall alert sent out by the National Highway Safety Administration. The recall involves certain seats on the Thomas line of buses that were not made with enough impact absorption. Starnes says his department should have the results of the search within a day or two and we will keep you updated.
