VDOT Wins Two Safety Awards

Two safety programs in the Virginia Department of Transportation are being honored with safety awards. The agency’s Pedestrian Safety Action Plan and the Guardrail Management Program were recognized with two National Roadway Safety Awards recently. The Pedestrian Safety Plan identifies high risk areas for pedestrian safety and then develops funding solutions and installs improvements at those locations. The Strategic Guardrail Management Program is improving roadway safety and maintenance efficiencies of the state’s guardrail system by prioritizing improvements at high risk locations using data, technology and business process enhancements.
