Sullivan County Commissioners Reject Resolution Asking School Board To Provide Bonus To Teachers And Employees

Sullivan County Commissioners rejected a resolution Thursday night that would have requested the county school board to come up with a one time bonus for teachers and staff. Some commissioners felt it would be unfair to single out the school system for a raise when there are other departments in need of a pay hike as well. Sullivan County Director Of Schools Dr. David Cox says he appreciates the commissioners intent, but the proposal would have come up short in terms of providing any meaningful pay hike for teachers.
