TDOT: SR 66 to reopen Wednesday after repairs from landslides, SR 70 to remain closed until next week
TDOT officials say a Hawkins County State road will reopen Wednesday after being closed for several months due to repairs from landslides.
According to spokesperson Mark Nagi, State Route 66 will have only one lane open as crews finish to place stones on the shoulders and ditches. An additional temporary lane closure will occur next week near the area of Spruce Pine Road and New Life Road as TDOT crews work to finish repair to the edge of the roadway. As for State Route 70, that road will remain closed until at least next week.
Both roads have been closed for repairs since heavy rains in February caused severe landslides in those areas.
