UPDATE: Attempted murder suspect in Carter County due in court Monday

A Carter County man charged following a 2018 shooting at a Walmart parking lot is scheduled for a plea hearing next week.

Court records show Brandon Ronnie Rhea, 20, is on the docket for Dec. 3. Rhea was charged with attempted second-degree murder after Elizabethton police said he shot a 19-year-old man following a botched robbery attempt during a drug deal in the store’s parking lot located off Overmountain Road.
