Federal judge questioning Blackjewel lawyers spending during bankruptcy trial
A federal judge in West Virginia has requested an itemized inventory of expenses for attorneys hired by Blackjewel Coal after they requested the court reimburse them more than $73,000.
The attorneys tallied-up the high priced bill while representing the company during bankruptcy proceedings that resulted in hundreds of miners in Kentucky and Southwest Virginia going without back pay in the summer. According to the Associated Press, Judge Frank Volk questioned the need for $900 a night hotel rooms and expensive meal tickets.
