Carter County Detention Center Gets New Visitation System For Remote Use
The Carter County Detention Center is launching a new online visitation system for inmates and their families. The new system will enable visitors to talk to inmates from their own home via video chat. Remote visitors will be able to use their smartphone, tablet, or a computer with a webcam to share a video call with their loved ones. Sheriff Dexter Lunceford says the system will help his department run a more secure facility and will also reduce the risk of contraband being introduced into the jail. The new online visitation will be conducted in addition to the current onsite visitation schedules.
