Three arrested following Monday night pursuit in Washington County, VA
Three people are behind bars in Southwest Virginia following a police chase Monday night.
The Washington County, VA Sheriff’s Office says a stolen vehicle from the Dollar General on December 1st was observed in a Walmart parking lot just before 7:00 p.m, and was then later observed at the Abingdon Cinemall, when officers tried to stop it. A pursuit ensued, going through Damascus and back through Abingdon, as officers successfully deployed spike strips, but the pursuit continued onto US 58 and a private drive before the driver exited on foot. Officers searched for the suspect for several hours before locating and arresting him at a residence on Atlantis Drive. That suspect, later identified as George Levi Buckles, 29, of Abingdon, VA, was charged with felony disregard for law enforcement commands and felony grand larceny.
Additionally, Christopher Shane Delp, 40, of Marion, VA, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor obstruct justice. A third suspect was located at the residence who had warrants for her arrest. Katelyn Marie Delp, 21, of Abingdon, VA was arrested and further investigation found her to have a bag with a syringe that contained methamphetamine. She was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and the outstanding charge of violation of probation. All three are being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
