Washington County, TN Commission approves resolution supporting purchase to help clean up Boone Lake

A resolution to partially fund cleaning up Boone Lake has been passed by the Washington County, TN Commission.

The resolution calls for the county and Johnson City to split funding $150,000 for the Boone Lake Association to purchase a catamaran skimmer and other equipment, which will help serve cleaning up vegetation and other debris that have built up in the lake after a sinkhole found at the Boone Dam decreased water levels beginning in late 2014. With the county approving the resolution, they have agreed to fund $62,500, with the first payment being $40,000.

Johnson City is up next to consider and possibly vote on whether to financially support the purchases.
