Cumberland Plateau Health District offering free flu vaccines in December
As flu season rears its ugly head into our region, the Cumberland Plateau Health District is offering free flu vaccines to help area residents stay a step ahead of growing flu cases across the state.
Local health departments across Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell counties are offering vaccinations free of charge to anyone ages six months and older. The Virginia Department of Health reports the flu is now considered widespread in Virginia.
Below is a schedule between each county of availability to get a vaccine:
Buchanan & Tazewell County: Each weekeday from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m
Dickenson County: Each Tuesday from 9 a.m to 3:30 p.m
Russell County: Wednesday December 18th and Thursday December 19th from 9 a.m to 3:30 p.m
(Note: All health department offices will be closed December 24th and 25th)
