Suspect arrested in West Virginia following pursuit that started in Tazewell, VA
A man has been captured following a high speed pursuit Wednesday that lasted from Tazewell, Virginia into West Virginia.
According to Sgt Steele with the Tazewell Police Department, officers responded to the Tazewell Farm Bureau just before 2:00 pm, where it was reported suspect Manuel Alvarado allegedly broke into a vehicle and stole a purse before leaving the scene. A BOLO was issued and as Sgt Steele spotted Alvarado, he attempted a traffic stop that was unsuccessful, resulting in a pursuit that began on US Route 460, and trailed across the state line into West Virginia, before Alvarado crashed and was captured by West Virginia State Police.
Alvarado was arrested and taken to the Southern Regional Jail. He faces charges in both Virginia and West Virginia, according to Steele.
