Upgrade to LED lights coming to Virginia’s highways
Your trip down Virginia interstates will be brighter beginning next Spring.
Governor Ralph Northam has announced a plan to replace current lighting on roads and at rest areas and weigh stations with LED lights as part of a new state contract with manufacturer Trane. Northam says the lighting update will save the state $4.6 million in electric costs by the year 2036 and reduce energy consumption by 50 percent.
