Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax making gubernatorial run in 2021

Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax has confirmed his plans to run for governor in 2021.

Officials from Fairfax’s office said he made the announcement while speaking with a group of senior citizens in Petersburg earlier this week. He could have company while vying for the Democratic nomination. Several reports including one from Politico say former Governor Terry McAuliffe is considering a run for a second stay in Richmond. Virginia remains the only state in the US that prohibits consecutive terms for a governor.
