USDA’S Natural Resources Conservation Services Awards Appalachian Sustainable Development
Appalachian Sustainable Development is being awarded more than 380 thousand dollars to lead a 36 month collaborative project in Southwest Virginia that will have a lasting impact with long term economic and conservation benefits. The agency is receiving 386 thousand dollars to help assist in the development of a transferable economic incentives system that encourages forest farming and alley cropping adoption among eligible landowners. The funds will help farmers and ranchers improve the health of operations and protect natural resources at the same time.
