Virginia Teachers And State Employees May Be Getting A Pay Hike
State employees and teachers in southwest Virginia as well as the rest of the Commonwealth could soon be getting raises and bonuses under a budget proposal before the state House and Senate. Both committees unveiled their proposals Sunday for a two year and more than 135 million dollar spending document. For the first time in more than twenty years there’s broad agreement for increases in pay for education, health care and other areas. Each chamber will now vote on its version of a state budget before the session ends next month.
