National Weather Service says some areas could see 2 to 4 inches of snow Thursday
Portions of the Mountain Empire including locations in Carter, Greene, Johnson, and Unicoi counties are included in a winter weather advisory until Thursday evening.
The latest forecast models are predicting from 2 to 4 inches of snow in the higher elevations of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina which could lead to hazardous traveling conditions during morning commute hours. The National Weather Service in Morristown says higher amounts of snow are possible in localities above 4,000 feet.
