Unicoi County officers making deliveries to high risk residents
Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley is allowing some of his officers to make limited deliveries to residents classified as high risk due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Hensley said he is targeting the elderly and shut-ins with the service that will be offered when available from 8 am to 5 pm weekdays so those neighbors can receive groceries and their essential medications.
The sheriff noted that they will not be offering rides and the items must be prepaid with select retailers and drug stores before they can be picked up.
