Wanted Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Morristown
A wanted man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Morristown.
The officer shot the suspect in an escape attempt. The dead fugitive’s name has not yet been released.
The Morristown Police Department reportedly spotted the suspect sitting in a car around the 400 block of Hayter Drive. When they went to apprehend him, the suspect rammed the officer’s vehicle in his escape attempt.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports that the man struck two police vehicles in the process, while officers were inside, and more on foot attempting to assist with the arrest.
He then tried to run and was shot with a service duty handgun in the lower abdomen and leg. The suspect was treated for his injuries at the UT Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead.
Protocol dictates that the TBI must share all of it’s findings of the incident with the District Attorney general for analysis.
